The Greater Delray Chamber of Commerce Announces Nominees for 2014 Business Awards

The Luminary Gala hosted by the Greater Delray Beach Chamber of Commerce has celebrated excellence in business and community service for 23 years. This year a revised slate of awards was created by the Delray Chamber’s Board of Directors. “The business landscape in Delray Beach has changed a great deal in recent years,” says Delray Chamber President and CEO, Karen Granger. “This year we’ve added two awards recognizing stellar retailers, and restaurateurs. And I’m very excited about a whole new category, the Delray Beach & Beyond-Corporate Reach Award. This award recognizes innovative entrepreneurs based in Delray Beach doing incredible business all over the globe. Nominees were submitted by a variety of Chamber members and then a committee comprised of Business Person of the Year award winners from the last five years as well as Chairmen of the Board from the last five years poured over applications and scoring criteria to select the final nominees and winners. The awards will be presented during a festive gala, “Dazzle Delray, Awarding the Stars in Our Town” at the Delray Beach Marriott on Friday, October 24, 2014 beginning at 7:00 p.m. One award winner is announced in advance, the 2014 Lifetime Achievement Award Winner. “We are proud to announce the winner of that award is Tom Lynch,” says Chairman of the Board Scott Porten. “Tom Lynch is known as someone who has been a real architect of change over many years, laying a foundation for the award-winning city Delray Beach is today. He’s played a critical role in our town and region serving as Mayor and on numerous Boards as well as running a sound business, Plastridge Insurance.”
